Higher-order interactions—those involving more than two elements—are fundamental to the complexity observed in biological, social, and technological systems. The 20th edition of the School of Complexity, “Higher-Order Interactions: Mechanisms, Behaviors, and Networks,” held at the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture in Erice, Sicily, provided an outstanding platform for PhD students, early-career researchers, and faculty to explore recent advances in higher-order interactions across fields including topology, neuroscience, network dynamics, and machine learning, through lectures from thirteen invited speakers and participant presentations. The event’s thoughtfully designed environment facilitated meaningful networking, which stands as the event’s most enduring and fruitful outcome. It was also a particular pleasure to meet other members of the BeyondTheEdge community, including Christian Bick and Giovanni Petri.
