Thinking outside the box: What makes partnerships in mathematics betweenthe Global South and Global North equitable and sustainable? Thisquestion was at the center of a workshop at the London MathematicalSociety (LMS) organized by Anne-Sophie Kaloghiros, Diletta Martinelli,Frank Neumann, and BeyondTheEdge coordinator Christian Bick. Thisbrought a productive exchange of perspectives from mathematics researchand education, development science, and funders across Africa andEurope. A particular focus were lessons learned from the Mathematics inAfrica: Research and Mobility (MARM) Partnership Grants from the LMS(https://lnkd.in/eCHVEDRc). The meeting opened up a new conversation andprovides a starting point to collect good practice that can informfuture collaborations and funding opportunities. Mathematicscollaborations with the Global South are also a topic of the nextBeyondTheEdge network meeting at Politecnico di Torino November.
